Mattress Care

The life span of a good quality mattress is approximately 8 to 10 years. Over this time you should have support and good comfort. There are many factors which may alter your products lifetime and taking the best care of it will ensure you will get the most out of your mattress.

Every three months it is good to rotate your mattress, this ensures even wear. Additionally it should also be turned over twice a year (two sided varieties only). We recommend that to prevent sagging that you place mattresses on top of a firm base. Be careful not to fold or bend your mattress as this is damaging to the internal parts such as springs. Also do not let mattresses become wet or damp as the development of mildew would be damaging to the upholstery. Mattress protectors are excellent ways of preventing spillages or stains to the ticking. To clean a mattress you can vacuum it or use a mild surface cleaner and a slightly damp cloth. Don’t use the handles to lift or carry the mattress. They’re not designed to take its weight, and should only be used for positioning it.

Should you start to feel body pain or stiffness and your mattress is no longer feeling supportive it is likely to need replacing. You may notice that springs may be protruding through the material which can be felt, also there may be visible lumpiness, sagging and deformity.
